This project features a custom-engineered fiberglass building specifically designed for use as a Metering Chlorination Facility. It was engineered to be mounted on top of a new concrete valve vault structure. The building provides access to the vault’s hatch while also housing a duplex chemical feed skid with chemical feed pumps, monitoring equipment, a SCADA system, and an eye wash station.
Wall Composition: The building is constructed using a high-performance composite structure, featuring inner and outer FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic) skin layers surrounding a robust 3″ thick insulation core. This design delivers excellent thermal performance and long-term weather resistance, achieving a minimum R-21 compliance rating and exceeding energy efficiency standards for insulated enclosures in harsh, chemically active environments.
Entry System: Access is provided via double FRP-insulated doors equipped with a panic bar and locking handle, ensuring both safety and security.
A heavy-duty electrical package was custom-designed for this unit, including:
125A 120/240V Main Lug Load Center (12-space, NEMA 1) for managing critical electrical circuits
48″ interior LED panel lights for bright, energy-efficient illumination
Exterior LED light with integrated photocell for dusk-to-dawn security lighting
Durable weatherproof light switches to withstand environmental exposure
The building’s internal environment is carefully managed using:
12″ exhaust fan with thermostat control for automatic ventilation
12″ gravity-operated louver for balanced airflow
Watertight junction box and protective hood with integral bug screen for clean, protected wiring connections
300W electric heater to maintain internal temperature during colder conditions
The exterior is finished with a dual-tone gel coat in grey and blue, providing a sleek, professional appearance along with enhanced UV and weather protection.
This custom metering chlorination building was engineered by VPC Fiberglass to meet the rigorous demands of chemical treatment applications. Its single-piece molded fiberglass construction offers seamless protection against corrosion, moisture intrusion, and structural degradation—key advantages in chlorination environments where chemical exposure and humidity are constant concerns.
With a 3″ insulated core and dual FRP skins, the structure delivers exceptional thermal performance and long-term durability. The seamless design minimizes maintenance and eliminates potential leak points. Outfitted with a tailored electrical and ventilation package, dual-tone gel coat finish, and secure, insulated access doors, this building is an ideal solution for municipalities and facilities seeking long-lasting, corrosion-resistant infrastructure for chlorination processes.
